About
Sound Factory School of Luthiery is ran by guitar maker Dave Travers who along with holding a degree in engineering is a certified luthier and graphic designer. Over the years he has worked on guitars for many great clients among them The Cranberries, The Script, The Coronas, Kodaline, Gavin James, Aslan, The Waterboys and many more.
As an experienced musician he is well aware of the frustrations in having guitars that from time to time act up and don’t sound their best. Going down the DIY route researching quick fixes can be misleading and frustrating. The goal behind the School of Luthiery is to empower guitarists to confidently setup, modify, repair and even build their own guitars.
Courses are delivered to be industry ready so that students can follow on to not only seek employment in the field of luthiery but to set up their own enterprises as guitar makers or even boutique builders.
Our Story
From its early beginnings in 2007 Sound Factory has grown from a small garage start-up to become one of the leading guitar repair, luthiery services in Ireland. Now operating out of a fully fitted commercial workshop in Dublin we are proud to have been selected by some of the largest guitar brands in the world as an authorised service centre, including Fender, Taylor, Gretsch, Jackson, and EVH.
