Acoustic Guitar Building

In this 12 week part time evening course you can learn how to make an acoustic guitar from start to finish. Quality seasoned tone wood, solid spruce top, solid mahogany sides and back, all hardware, and parts are supplied. Each student will walk away with a completed handmade guitar at the end of the course. The course takes place Thursday evenings from 18:30-21:30 from the 15th of January. The course fee is €2200 and includes all materials and tools required. Class sizes are small so places are limited. A nonrefundable deposit of €500 will secure your spot.

Acoustic Guitar Making

Learn how to work with various jigs and molds specific to guitar making. Learn how to use a go-bar press, radiusing discs, bending irons, guitar mold and more.

Finishing Techniques

Working with raw wood you will be thought how to apply a finish and then learn fine sanding, buffing, and polishing.

Complete Fretwork

Learn how to radius a fretboard plus cutting and fitting frets. Then carry out a fret dress by levelling, crowning, and polishing the frets.

Bone Nut & Saddle Making

Make custom bone nuts and saddles tailored for the best fit. Hand made from a blank carefully cut to size. Learn to optimise playability through fine adjustments to the setup.

Customisation & Assembly

Make design decisions to personalise your instrument and make it unique. From headstock shaping, neck profile choices, binding and bridge shaping.

Carpentry Skills

Through the full building of the guitar you will learn valuable carpentry skills. Working with various clamps, wood scrapers, planes, and many more tools specific to luthiery.
